Calixto Bieito
Calixto Bieito (born November 2, 1963 in Miranda de Ebro , Spain ) is a Spanish opera and drama director .
He has built a reputation for himself as a “scandal director” with modern, expressively violent, or deliberately sexualized opera productions. Between 1999 and 2011 he was director of the Teatre Romea in Barcelona .
Bieito has Galician roots on his father's side and southern Spanish roots on his mother's side.
