Campbellton is a city in Jackson County in the US state of Florida with 230 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Campbellton is about 25 km northwest of Marianna and about 100 km northwest of Tallahassee .

history

A first rail line on Campbellton was established in 1908 by the Atlanta and St. Andrews Bay Railroad opened (ASAB), of Panama City on Cottondale until after Dothan ( Alabama leads). The ASAB was in 1994 in the Bay Line Railroad . A branch line of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad (L&N) connected Campbellton from 1971 to the mid-1990s with Graceville , where there was a connection to another line of the L&N to Samson or Georgiana in Alabama. Both L&N lines have now been closed.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 230 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 118 households. The population density was 100 inh / km². 33.9% of the population identified themselves as whites, 64.8% as African American and 0.4% as Asian Americans . 0.9% said they belonged to several ethnic groups. 0.4% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 33.3% of all households lived in 31.3% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 67.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.32 people and the average family size was 2.87 people.

26.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 20.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 28.3% were 40 to 59 years old, and 24.7% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 43 years. 47.8% of the population were male and 52.2% were female.

The median annual income was $ 24,821, with 14.9% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100% of the population.

Campbellton is crossed by US Highway 231 ( SR 75 ) and Florida State Roads 2 and 273 . The nearest airport is Dothan Regional Airport (around 40 km north).
