Camrail , also known as Cameroon Railways, is the Cameroonian railway company for the transport of people and goods. It operates all rail transport in Cameroon .

history

In 1996 the Cameroonian state started a process of privatization . The concession was granted to Groupe Bolloré on January 19, 1999 for a period of 30 years. Camrail began operations on April 1, 1999. The shareholders are SCCF (Bolloré) (77.4%), État du Cameroun (13.5%), Total Cameroun (5.3%), SEBC (Thanry) (3.8%).

On October 21, 2016, a company train was involved in a serious accident near Éséka . 79 people died and around 600 were injured.
