Carl Friedrich Löbbecke

Carl Friedrich Löbbecke (* the 30th September 1768 in Braunschweig ; † 18th August 1839 ibid) was a merchant, banker and owner of Löbbecke & Co. .

Carl Friedrich Löbbecke was born as the son of the Brunswick businessman Johann Melchior Löbbecke (1728–1783) and his wife Anna Dorothea, née Krause (1744–1795). His father was the founder of the Brunswick bank Löbbecke & Co. (today: Bankhaus Löbbecke), for which he worked as a co-owner since June 10, 1774. With the death of his father in 1783 he took over sole management of the company.

On May 20, 1793, his first marriage was Adelheid Christine Scharrnbeck († September 16, 1798). After her death, on January 19, 1801, he married Sophie (Christine) Hoffmeister (November 10, 1772 - January 1, 1851), the daughter of a vicar.

In 1795 Carl Friedrich Löbbecke was one of the founders of the Löbbecke & Hollmann company in Breslau .

On January 1, 1812, he left the management of Löbbecke & Co. in favor of his son.

From 1807 to 1813 he was a member of the Imperial Estates of the Kingdom of Westphalia for the Oker Department .

Honors

Carl Friedrich Löbbecke was chairman of the Reformed Community of Braunschweig. On January 1, 1835, he was awarded the title of Knight of the Order of Henry the Lion .
