Carl Hermann Schell (born November 14, 1927 in Wolfsberg , Carinthia, Austria; † June 6, 2019 in Locarno ) was a Swiss actor .

Life

Carl Schell was the son of the writer Hermann Ferdinand Schell (1900–1972) and the actress Margarethe Noé von Nordberg (1905–1995). His siblings Maria Schell (1926–2005), Maximilian Schell (1930–2014) and Immy Schell (1935–1992) were also artists. The family is often referred to in the media as the "Schell Clan".

Schell had three children with his first wife, Candida Robert. His second marriage to actress Stella Mooney had two more children. He is also the father of a sixth child out of wedlock. Carl Schell lived in Locarno, in the Swiss canton of Ticino.

Carl Schell played in some films, mostly in supporting roles, and also made a name for himself as a stage actor in German-speaking countries. In addition to acting, he also worked as a director, producer and writer.
