Life

He was a son of JM Stocker and Emilie von Gemmingen-Fürfeld (1808–1871). The mother came from the Fürfeld sub-branch of the Barons of Gemmingen , who, unlike the other branches of the family, became poor early on and married into middle-class families as early as the 19th century. He married a distant relative from the same branch, namely Karoline Luise Wilhelmine Emilie von Gemmingen (* 1833), and was parish priest in Münzesheim for many years . Among other things, he wrote a chronicle of Münzesheim, as well as about the Protestant church in the Grand Duchy of Baden and the district of Bruchsal . From 1865 to 1880 he also wrote a three-volume chronicle of the Barons of Gemmingen, which was re-edited in a single volume in 1895.
