Carlhans Scharpenseel (born December 28, 1907 in Hagen ; † July 14, 2002 in Bochum ) was a German lawyer and federal judge and president of the Senate at the Federal Court of Justice .

Scharpenseel came from a family from Altbochum, whose farm in Dahlhausen was already registered in 1486 in the treasury of the county of Mark . His grandfather was Heinrich Scharpenseel (1836–1903), who founded the Scharpenseel brewery with his brother Moritz (1829–1888) .

Life

Carlhans Scharpenseel graduated from the Royal Humanistic Gymnasium in Bochum ( Gymnasium am Ostring ) in 1926 and studied law at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg im Breisgau from 1926 . In 1965 he rejected a request for the office of Federal Public Prosecutor at the Federal Court of Justice . From December 17, 1965 to December 1966 he was President of the 4th Criminal Senate and from January 1, 1967 to December 31, 1975 President of the Senate of the 3rd Criminal Senate .

Scharpenseel has participated in criminal proceedings with a political background, such as the Peter-Paul Zahl , Friedrich Karl Kaul and Hannsheinz Porst cases .
