Carlo Snider

Carlo Snider (born April 21, 1910 in Cavagnago , † February 16, 1988 in Rome ) was a Swiss canon lawyer .

Life

Carlo Snider was the son of Giuseppe Snider, a businessman and his wife Luigina, née. Demaria. His brother was Vincenzo Snider (born May 14, 1911 in Locarno; † May 14, 1990 there), a member of the Swiss UNESCO comm ission .

He attended the Progymnasium in Pollegio and the Jesuit Gymnasium in Brescia .

In 1934 he became a licentiate of the Civil Code and 1939 of canon law in Rome. From 1945 to 1952 he was Secretary General of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law ( UNIDROIT ).

Carlo Snider had been married to Lilia, a teacher from Italy and daughter of Romolo Astraldi, General Secretary of the Chamber of Deputies , since 1941 .

Act

As a lawyer for the Congregation of Rites, Carlo Snider dealt with the beatification processes of Pope Pius IX. , Niklaus von Flüe , Maria Theresia Scherer , Marguerite Bays and Giacomo Gianiel (1714–1750), Catholic religious and member of the Congregation of the Passionists . He developed critical and interdisciplinary methods for examining the canonization process .

He wrote numerous articles, monographs and a detailed biography on Cardinal Andrea Carlo Ferrari .

Honors

1958 Carlo Snider was the University of Freiburg to the Dr. iur. appointed hc .
