Carlos Atilano

Carlos Atilano (* 1952 ) is a Venezuelan composer and guitarist .

Atilano played Cuatro as a child before studying guitar with Edmund Egan . He then played in various rock 'n' roll bands and continued his training with Antonio Ochoa . From 1978 to 1983 he studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston. He performed as a soloist and became a member of the Golpe a Trés group .

He was a juror at the International Guitar Festival Rust in Austria and at the Grotniki Guitar Festival in Poland, where he also gave workshops. His guitar works have been performed by musicians such as Gabriel Guillén and the Duo Stoyanova . In 1993 he took part in the recording of Jim Centorino's album Ivory: A Celebration of Wildlife . In 2005 the composition El Editor, dedicated to Colin Cooper , was published . The world premiere of his Valse de Vladislav , dedicated to Vladislav Bláha , took place at a concert by The Latin American and Caribbean Cultural Society in London in 2006 .
