Carlos María Morales , full name Carlos María Morales Maeso , (born March 1, 1970 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player and current coach. He is the father of soccer player Juan Manuel Morales . On August 24, 2008, both wrote Uruguayan football history when father and son stood together on the field for the first time in a professional game in the Uruguayan league.
Player career

The 1.73-meter-tall offensive player Morales was part of the River Plate Montevideo team at the beginning of his career from 1990 to the end of 1991 . In 1992 he was active for the Chilean club CD O'Higgins . A club station at Deportes Temuco followed from 1993 to 1994 . During the first six months of 1995, Morales played for Unión Española . In July 1995, the Mexican club Deportivo Toluca signed him . From there he moved to CF Pachuca in July 1997 . In July 1998 he joined LDU Quito by the end of the year . From 1999 to mid-2002 Deportivo Toluca was again his employer. In July 2002 he joined Atlas Guadalajara until the end of 2004 . 2005 Morales was in ranks of CD Estudiantes Tecos and played at least one league game (one goal). During the first half of 2006 he was on the squad of Puebla FC . He left the Mexicans in July 2006 for River Plates. At the club from the early days of his sporting career, he was in the Apertura 2006 in 13 Primera División games and scored five goals. From the beginning of 2007 Morales continued his career at Defensor Sporting . For the Montevidean club he ran across the seasons in 22 games in the top Uruguayan league and scored six goals. During the Clausura 2008, Danubio FC was his employer. There he was used in nine first division matches and scored four times into the opposing goal. The last station of his professional career was the Montevideo Wanderers , where he played ten first division games (one goal) in the Apertura 2008.
National team
Morales made his debut on July 13, 2001 in the 1-0 win in the preliminary round game of the Copa America 2001 against the Bolivian selection in the Uruguayan senior team , when coach Víctor Púa substituted him in the 79th minute for Javier Chevantón . In the course of the tournament he was used in four other games in the "Celeste". In the semifinals he was sent off. His last appearance for the national team was on November 7, 2001 in a 1-1 draw in the World Cup qualifier against Ecuador . He made a total of seven international matches and scored one goal.
Coaching career
From November 2010 to April 2011, Morales was head coach at River Plate in Montevideo. This was followed by an intermezzo from February 2013 to March 2013 as coach of the Mexican club San Luis FC . In October 2014 he took over the training management at Miramar Misiones . This engagement ended in January 2016.
