Carnegie Medal
The Carnegie Medal in Literature ( Carnegie Medal for Literature ) is a British award for children's books. She is named after Andrew Carnegie . Nominee books must be written in English and should have been published in the UK the previous year. The jury consists of members of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) . In addition, the Kate Greenaway Medal is awarded to excellent illustrators .
The prize is awarded in July of the following year. In addition to the medal of the winner will receive a book token over 500 pounds , he can donate a public library or a school library.
In 2012, Patrick Ness ' A Monster Calls was the first book to win both the Carnegie Medal and the Kate Greenway Medal for Best Illustration. In 2019, The Poet X was awarded for the first time in the 83-year history of the prize, the work of a “writer of color”.
