Casa de Pilatos

The Casa de Pilatos (Spanish Pilatushaus ) is a city palace in Seville ( Spain ), which in its current form dates from the early 16th century. The prototype of an Andalusian aristocratic palace is a conglomerate of Italian Renaissance - and mostly Spanish Mudejar style .

The Marques de Tarifa rebuilt the palace after a trip to Jerusalem . Since then, the building has been popularly known as the "House of Pilate". Today it is the museum and residence of the Counts of Medinaceli . It houses paintings, furniture and Roman antiques, among other things. The Casa de Pilatos in Seville is next to the Alcázar Palace one of the most popular sights.

Trivia

In July 1999, the courtyard was featured in a scene from the movie Mission: Impossible II , where the flamenco dancer Sara Baras performed. Parts of the film Knight and Day also take place in the villa. Before this point in time, there were movie scenes from inside the building in Lawrence of Arabia as early as 1962 .
