Cate Shortland

Cate Shortland (born August 10, 1968 in Temora , New South Wales , Australia ) is an Australian writer and director for television and film .

Life

Shortland graduated from the Australian Film Television and Radio School , where she received the Southern Star Award for Promising Student. From 2001 to 2002 she directed several episodes of the television series The Secret Life of Us on Australian commercial broadcaster Network Ten . In 2004, her youth drama Somersault - How Perfume in the Air won numerous awards. Her feature film Lore , shot in Germany, is the official Australian submission for the 2013 Academy Awards in the category “Best Foreign Language Film”. In late June 2017, Shortland became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences .
