Cecilia García (born November 22, 1951 in Santo Domingo ), known as La Polifacética , is a Dominican singer, actress and television producer.

Life

García became known as a singer and actress with her television productions and music shows. In 1968 she won first prize at the Festival de la Canción Latina in Mexico , and in the same year she performed her own ballad at the Festival Dominicano de la Canción . From 1970 to 1974 she worked as a comedian for the broadcaster Cadena Telemundo in her hometown.

In 1974 she produced the program 3x3 for Radio Televisión Dominica , and also performed with great success at the Teatro Nacional de Santo Domingo in Franklin Domínguez 's monologue El Ultimo Instante . In 1975 (and again in 1983) she was awarded two El Dorados for best comedian and best show producer and the Gran El Dorado for best artist of the year. She received the latter again in 1984.

In 1978 she was co-producer, conductor, singer and comedian in the program Cecilia y Solano on Canal 4 in Santo Domingo, in 1980 she produced the program Esta Noche Cecilia . She also took part in the Show del Medio Día until 1985 . In 1985, the television company Rhaintel opened the variety show Cecilia en Facetas , in which García presented television specials, interviews, musicals and theater performances for 10 years and with which she won several awards and nominations.

At the Teatro Nacional de Santo Domingo she played the title role of Eva Perón in the musical Evita and was awarded the El Casandra Acting Prize in 1988 . In 1992 she appeared in four roles in Artur Rodríguez 's piece Parecido a Sebastián . She celebrated her 25th stage anniversary with Guillermo Cordero's show Fantástica .

In 1994 García went to the USA and there produced the show Donde Quiera que Estés for Dominican television , which ran for three years at Tele Centro and in which Dominican families and old friends around the world were sought and brought together for meetings. On the album Deja Vu in 2004 she published her greatest musical successes from the ten years of the show Cecilia en Facetas .

In 2005 García was the protagonist in the first Spanish-language version of the musical Victor / Victoria and received El Casandra for best actress of the year. As the protagonist in El Beso De La Mujer Araña , the Asociación de Cronistas de Arte de la Republica Dominicana named her best actress of the year.

In 2011, their album Maravillosa was released under the direction of Rafael Solano . In the same year she appeared in Fidel López 's musical Blanca Nieves . For her interpretation of Maria Callas in Terrence McNally's Master Class , directed by Carlos Espinal , she was awarded the prize for best actress at the Premio Casandra in 2012.
