Celeste Rinaldi

Celeste Rinaldi (born November 7, 1902 in Turin as Ambrogio Celeste Rinaldi ; † March 5, 1977 ) was an Italian Egyptologist , civil engineer and architect .

Life

Celeste Rinaldi was born in Turin in 1902 . In 1926 he completed his studies as a civil engineer. Thanks to a successful career as an architect , he was also able to finance research in his field of interest, ancient Egyptian architecture. In 1946 he met Vito Maragioglio , with whom he has carried out his most important research ever since. The two led a project to document the architecture of the pyramids in the Memphite region. Her books are still standard works on the architecture of the pyramids today. In addition, from 1961 to 1965, Rinaldi participated on behalf of the Museo Egizio in Turin in the rescue campaign of the Nubian monuments, which were threatened by the rising water from the construction of the Aswan Dam . He died in March 1977.
