Cerasuolo di Vittoria
Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG is an Italian red wine from the Free Municipal Consortia Ragusa and Caltanissetta and the metropolitan city of Catania in Sicily . After the Cerasuolo di Vittoria since May 29, 1973, the only wine with DOC was status of the province of Ragusa, it is since 13 September 2005, the only DOCG wine festivals in Sicily. The denomination was last updated on March 7, 2014.
Growing area
The cultivation of the grapes for the Cerasuolo di Vittoria is only permitted in the municipal areas (in whole or in part) of the following municipalities:
- in the province of Ragusa : Vittoria , Comiso , Acate , Chiaramonte Gulfi , Santa Croce Camerina and parts of Ragusa
- in the province of Caltanissetta : Niscemi , Gela , Riesi , Butera and Mazzarino
- in the metropolitan city of Catania : Caltagirone , Licodia Eubea and Mazzarrone .

Only the following grape varieties may be used:
- 50-70% Nero d'Avola and
- 30-50% frappato
The “Cerasuolo di Vittoria” may not go on sale before June 1 of the year following the harvest, the “Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico” not before March 31 of the second year after the harvest.
The shelf life of the wine is considerable; 30 years and more are not uncommon.

- Dry extract : at least 27.0 g / l
