The Club Atlético Chacarita Juniors , or the Chacarita Juniors for short , is an Argentine sports club from Buenos Aires and best known for its football department. The football team of the club, which was founded in 1906, plays in the Primera B Nacional , the second highest division in Argentine football , in the 2018/19 season .
While the club's headquarters are in the Chacarita district, the football stadium is in Villa Maipú ( Partido Tres de Febrero ) outside the city .
history
The association was founded on May 1, 1906. A brief period of institutional crisis followed, so that the association was reopened in 1919. In 1924 the team reached the first amateur league, where the club stayed even after the professionalization of football in 1931.
In 1940 they were relegated to the second amateur league, but were able to celebrate their promotion again after a year. In 1956 they were relegated a second time, but again only had to wait three years for their return to the first division. After ten years in League 1 in a row, the Chacarita Juniors celebrated their only title, the Metropolitano 1969.
In the following years the team played poorly and was passed through to the fourth division until 1980. In 1984 they celebrated their return to the first division, but had to accept relegation again due to problems with their own hooligans and a point deduction.
Until the recovery in 1999, the club played consistently second or even third class. After the Clausura 2004, the club rose again from the Nacional B, where they play again after a short trip to the Primera División 2009/2010 since the 2010/11 season.
