Chapeau Claque was a music formation from Erfurt , which is assigned to the genre of electropop. The band itself describes their music as electro-chanson-pop-romantic music.
history
The later singer and songwriter of Chapeau Claque, Maria Antonia Schmidt (* 1986 in Cottbus ), discovered her musical passion at the age of 15 and founded vanilla cinnamon with Juli Holz , which a short time later became two-cornered circle . When a record company became aware of the project, Maria Antonia Schmidt finally created Chapeau Claque in 2006 .
In addition to some appearances in the opening act for Northern Lite and the joint appearance at the Bundesvision Song Contest 2007 (6th place), an EP was released in 2006 and the debut album Hand on Heart was released in spring 2007 .
While commercial success in German-speaking countries was largely absent, in April 2008 the single Reykjavik reached the top ten in Greece.
For the fifth Bundesvision Song Contest on February 13, 2009 in Potsdam , Chapeau Claque competed for Thuringia with their title Pandora (Kiss Miss Tragedy) and took sixth place. The bilingual song is about the dialogue between the human child Pandora and the goddess of tragedy.
In spring 2010 the Fabelweiss Extra Edition appeared on the unaMusic label. This double CD consists of the album Fabelweiss , as well as 6 songs from the first two albums, in an acoustic session version.
At the end of 2010, Chapeau Claque announced that a third album was in the works, which will be released in spring 2011. The video, from the first title of the band's new album, was released at the beginning of 2011. The third studio album is called Hab & Hut and was released on February 18, 2011.
The album One Two Things , released in autumn 2013, was financed through crowdfunding .
On May 11, 2016, Maria Antonia Schmidt announced the end of the band project in a Facebook post.
