Charles Christopher Hodgson (born November 12, 1980 in Halifax ) is an English rugby union player who is used on the position of the connection half. He is active for the English national rugby union team and the Saracens club .

Hodgson grew up in Halifax, went to school in Bradford and studied in Durham . His rugby career began with the Old Brodleians club, later he played for the university team Durhams and the Yorkshire region . He first played for the Sale Sharks in 2000 when his team met the French team from Auch . In 2001 he made his first appearance for the English national team, scoring 44 points against Romania , setting the record for most points in a game by England. The game was won 134-0.

At the Six Nations 2003 he was used in the position of the inner three quarters . During this tournament he tore a cruciate ligament and was unable to attend the 2003 World Cup . It was not until the summer of 2004 that Hodgson was able to play for the English national team again, this time as a liaison half.

In this position, however, he could not prevail, as the better kick game by Jonny Wilkinson in particular led to this being preferred to him. 2005 was the last year in which Hodgson was a constant member of the national team squad. In the same year he was nominated for the tour of the British and Irish Lions .

After another cruciate ligament tear, Hodgson fell out again for a long time. He did not return until 2008 when he was appointed to the English squad for the Six Nations . Since March 8, 2009 he has been the top scorer of the Guinness Premiership with 1,492 points. With the 20 points that he scored in the game against the Newcastle Falcons , he overtook Jonny Wilkinson in this statistic.
