Chaz Davies (born February 10, 1987 in Knighton , Wales ) is a British motorcycle racer .

Career

Early years

Chaz Davies started his racing career in 1995 in the British Mini Moto Championship. In 2001 he took part in the British 125 cc championship and finished 7th at the end of the season.

Motorcycle world championship

For the 2002 season , Davies rose to the 125 cc class of the motorcycle world championship . At the end of his first season, he finished 29th. Just one year later he moved up another class and from 2003 competed on Aprilia in the 250 cc class. From 2003 to 2005 Davies joined the team Aprilia Germany by Dieter Stappert on, in 2006 he drove for the Italian team Ticino Hosting Campetella Racing . His best result was 13th at the end of the 2004 season .

American Championship

In 2007 he switched to the US championship. Davies competed this year in both the Supersport class (13th overall) and the Stock Extreme (6th overall). In 2008 he started again in both classes. This time he finished 6th overall in the Supersport class and 5th overall in the Stock Extreme . Davies was also the first Briton to win the Daytona 200 that year . However, only after Josh Hayes was disqualified for an illegal crankshaft. 2009 was his last season in the United States . On an Aprilia RSV 1000 R he finished 9th overall in the newly created AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike Championship .

World Supersport Championship

Chaz Davies made his first appearance in the Supersport World Championship in 2009 . He took part in the last three races on a Triumph Daytona 675 and finished 20th at the end of the season. In 2010 , again on a Triumph Daytona 675, he finished the season in fourth overall with four third places. In 2011 , his team moved from Triumph to Yamaha and signed the Italian Luca Scassa as Davies' new teammate. With six wins, one second and one third place from twelve races Chaz Davies was 50 points ahead of Spanish Kawasaki pilots David Salom world champion .

Superbike World Championship

After this success, Chaz Davies moved to the Superbike World Championship from the 2012 season . However , he remained loyal to his team ParkinGO . On an Aprilia RSV4 Factory , he was able to celebrate one win and three third places in his first season. In the end, he finished 9th overall. 2013 Davies joined the BMW - factory team . His racing motorcycle was now a BMW S 1000 RR . With three wins and three other podium finishes, he finished fifth overall at the end of the season. Chaz Davies has been driving a Ducati Panigale R in the Ducati factory team since 2014 . In 2015 he was runner-up in the world championship with five wins and 13 other podium finishes. In 2016 he won the last six races in a row. In total, he achieved eleven wins this season. Nevertheless, in the end it was only enough for third place overall.
