Chengxiang

Chengxiang ( Chinese  城厢 区 , Pinyin Chéngxiāng Qū ) is a municipality in the prefecture -level city of Putian in the Chinese province of Fujian . Chengxiang forms the city center of Putian and is also the seat of the city government. The borough is located on the Taiwan Strait , halfway between Fuzhou and Xiamen . Because of his production of lychees , he is also nicknamed Lychee City .

Chengxiang has an area of ​​484 km² (according to other information: 502 km²) about 360,000 inhabitants (end of 2004) and a gross domestic product of 1.8 billion Renminbi (2002). The GDP per capita was 9,058 renminbi, below the average for Fujian Province .
