Christian Juranek
Christian Juranek (born February 9, 1964 in Bad Harzburg ) is a German art historian and museum director in Wernigerode Castle .
Live and act
Juranek obtained his Abitur in 1983 at the Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium in Bad Harzburg. He completed his studies in Ancient , Middle and Modern History , German Linguistics , German Literature , Philosophy and Education at the TU Carolo-Wilhelmina in Braunschweig . There was also a postgraduate degree in art history , including at the University of Zurich .
From 1989 to 1991 Juranek worked in the cultural program and in the department for research on the 17th century at the Herzog August Library in Wolfenbüttel , from 1990 to 1992 at the Presidential Department of the City of Zurich for the Bärengasse Residential Museum and the Strauhof Museum . From 1992 onwards he was an assistant manager and head of the scientific service of the museums of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar in the Goethe National Museum in Weimar . Juranek has been the managing director of Schloss Wernigerode GmbH and director of Schloss Wernigerode as a center for art and cultural history of the 19th century since 1997 . Under his leadership, Wernigerode Castle developed "into a leading institution in the museum and event landscape for the entire Harz region and beyond".
2006 doctorate Juranek with the work "For a whole period: Hans Graf von Veltheim (1818-1857) - Life, literature, art" at the Institute of Fine Arts and Science of the University of Hildesheim . At this institute and at the Institute for Cultural Policy there , he is a lecturer with examination authorization.
Juranek is besides his position at Wernigerode Castle also Deputy Trustees for Saxony-Anhalt of the Foundation means German Cultural Council , a member of the marketing committee of the Harz Transport Association and board member of the course Kulturmarketing the Harz University and the University of Applied Sciences Merseburg . He is co-founder and curator of the Simplicissimus House in Renchen , which deals with Hans Jakob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen and his work.
Juranek has been chairman of the Harz Association for History and Antiquity since 2015 . Before that, he worked for the association as managing director from 2001 and from 2003 as second and executive chairman.
In 1998 Juranek received the Golden Grimmelshausen Medal of the city of Renchen for special services. In 2010 he was awarded the art / culture prize of the city of Wernigerode . He had earned special merits "in the Germany-wide recognized profiling and networking of Wernigerode Castle as a center for art and cultural history of the 19th century".
Juranek is married and lives in Bad Harzburg.
