Christian Tilitzki (* 1957 in Schleswig ) is a German lawyer and historian . He is mainly concerned with the history of philosophy and the history of science .

Life

Tilitzki submitted his 1500-page dissertation on German university philosophy from 1918 to 1945 to Karlfried Gründer (second reviewer was Ernst Nolte ) at the Free University of Berlin in 1999. It was the result of more than twelve years of archival research taking into account academic philosophy at twenty-three universities and ten technical colleges of the German Reich, the ideological and political positions of almost 400 philosophy lecturers were recorded. Tilitzki describes the German Philosophical Society and its publication organs and shows the key role of Alfred Baeumler in Nazi science policy. A great deal can be learned about the details of the vocations and personal relationships as well as political backgrounds. However, the publication met with the accusation that it viewed the break of 1933 too uncritically and, in particular , underestimated the anti-Semitism during this period.

Tikitzki's also very extensive study of the Albertus University in Königsberg , which was little researched between 1871 and 1945 , emerged from a research project funded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation from 2000 to 2003 and supervised by Leipzig cultural philosopher Klaus Christian Köhnke .

Tilitzki received the Gierschke-Dornburg-Preis of the East Prussian Landsmannschaft in 2014 .
