Christian Tissier (born February 7, 1951 in Paris ) is a high-ranking French Aikidō teacher (8th Dan ) and has the title of Shihan of Aikikai .

Life

At the age of eleven, Christian Tissier began Aikidō training under Nakazono . He proved to be very talented and received his second dan in 1968 at the age of 17. When he was 18, he planned to spend six months in Japan , which turned into eight years. During his stay he trained at the Aikikai Honbu Dōjō . At the same time he learned kenjutsu and kickboxing . His most important teachers were Seigo Yamaguchi and Dōshū Kisshōmaru Ueshiba , the son of the Aikido founder Ueshiba Morihei . In 1976 he returned to Paris and opened his own dojo . He is the founder of the French aikido association, Fédération française d'aïkido, d'aïkibudo et affinitaires (FFAAA).

In 1998 Kisshōmaru Ueshiba personally awarded him the 7th Dan Aikidō. Shortly afterwards, he was the first non-Japanese to receive the honorary title Shihan.

At the beginning of 2016 Dōshū Moriteru Ueshiba awarded him the 8th Dan Aikidō.

Since 2000 he has been the technical director of the Aikido Federation Germany . Almost every year there is a traditional Easter course in Paris, to which many hundreds of Aikidoka attend.

Christian Tissier is the author of a number of Aikidō textbooks in French, as well as a writer for instructional videos for Aikidō and Kenjutsu.
