Christiane Kieburg

Christiane Kieburg , after marriage to Christiane Kieburg-Bauer , (born February 3, 1956 ) is a former German judoka who was four times European champion.

Christiane Kieburg from JKK Nippon Berlin was German heavyweight champion in 1975, 1978, 1979 and 1981. At the first European Championships in 1975, she won a bronze medal in both the heavyweight division and the open class. From 1976 to 1979 she won four times in the heavyweight division, in 1976 and 1977 she also won bronze in the open class. In 1980 she received bronze in the heavyweight division. In 1981 she lost to the Italian Margerita De Cal in the heavyweight final, and in 1982 she lost the final to the Dutch Marjolein van Unen .

At the first Judo World Championships for women in 1980 in New York City, she was defeated in the heavyweight division of the French Paulette Fouillet , in the fight for a bronze medal she defeated Margaret Castro from the United States.

Christiane Kieburg-Bauer remained connected to her sport even after her active career. She was President of the Berlin Regional Association and from 2009 to 2017 first Vice President of the German Judo Association .
