Christiane Kunst (born September 29, 1963 in Nienburg / Weser ) is a German ancient historian .

Christiane Kunst studied in Marburg , Munich and London . In 1991 she received her doctorate in Ancient History from Karl Christ in Marburg with a dissertation on Roman tradition and English politics . She then took on a teaching position at University College London . From 1992 to 1995 she was a research assistant at the Free University of Berlin . Since 1995 Kunst has worked initially as a research assistant, after completing her habilitation in 2003 as a private lecturer and senior research assistant at Pedro Barceló's ancient history chair at the University of Potsdam . In 2006/07 she was visiting professor at the TU Dresden . Since October 2009 she has been teaching as a professor of ancient history at the University of Osnabrück .

Art knows Roman family history and adoption as a strategy of family organization; She has researched marriage alliances and the social function of domus . She is also an expert on early principals and the history of science . In 2008 she published a basic account of Livia , the wife of the Roman emperor Augustus . She publishes the letters addressed to Karl Benedikt Hase .
