Christine Laser

Christine Laser , b. Bodner (born March 19, 1951 in Mattstedt ) is a former German athlete who - starting for the GDR - won the silver medal in the pentathlon at the 1976 Olympic Games .

Life

She was sixth at the European Junior Games in 1968. In Munich she reached fourth place at the 1972 Olympic Games (4671 points). Another success was winning the European Cup in the all-around competition in 1975 with the GDR team. There she came second in the individual standings behind Burglinde Pollak .

Laser won the silver medal at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal . With 4745 points, she achieved the same final result as her team and club-mate Sigrun Siegl . Since she had a worse performance than Siegl in three of the five disciplines, she was placed in second place according to the IAAF regulations. Your individual performances in this competition: 13.55 s - 14.29 m - 1.78 m - 6.27 m - 23.48 s. For winning the silver medal, she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze. At the next Olympic Games in Moscow she gave up after the second discipline, the shot put, due to an injury.

Laser started for the SC Turbine Erfurt and trained with Siegfried Meißner . During her competition time she was 1.79 m tall and weighed 67 kg. In the documents on state doping in the GDR that became public after the fall of the Wall , the name of Laser was found among the doped athletes.

In 1973 she married the 400-meter hurdler Jürgen Laser (best time: 50.0 s). After her sports career, she became a sports teacher at the Liszt School of Music Weimar . She lives in her birthplace Mattstedt.
