Christian-social citizens

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Christian Social Citizens (CSB; in Garmisch-Partenkirchen: Christian Social Alliance ) is the name of voter associations in several Bavarian cities. They were created by splitting off from the CSU and were able to move into several local parliaments in the local elections on March 2, 2008 . Mayor Thomas Schmid (formerly CSU, now CSB) was re-elected in Garmisch-Partenkirchen .

A voter association of the same name in Küps in the Kronach district , which has existed for decades and at times entered into list connections with the CSU, is not in this context .

Foundation of the CSB

In Regensburg, the CSU city council group tried in March 2007 to expel its member Thomas Fürst (* 1971), who was accused of striving for power and being close to right-wing extremism. This triggered a split in the CSU, from which the CSB emerged. Fürst resigned from the CSU, but did not become the CSB's top candidate, as originally intended, but acted as a consultant for their local electoral list. The main driving force behind the Regensburg CSB is the former CSU city councilor Dr. Gero Kollmer. Kollmer is considered a vehement opponent of the Lord Mayor Hans Schaidinger and the CSU parliamentary group chairman Schlegl.

In Coburg on April 13, 2007, seven previous CSU councilors resigned from the parliamentary group and founded the new CSB parliamentary group. The reason they gave was a culture of dispute and discussion within the CSU parliamentary group, which was characterized by unobjective personal attacks. The members of the CSB parliamentary group announced their intention to remain members of the CSU. The voter group Christian-Social Citizens Coburg eV was founded on May 13, 2007. Since the CSU-Stadtverband Coburg had in the meantime applied for an expulsion procedure against the persons on the list of CSB candidates for the 2008 local elections, three of the four newly elected CSB councilors and a few other CSB candidates declared their departure from the CSU on March 8, 2008.

In Garmisch-Partenkirchen , Thomas Schmid , then CSU, was elected mayor in 2002. Due to differences in his leadership style, the CSU put up another candidate for the 2008 election. Schmid then resigned from the CSU. On August 30, 2007 the association “CSB - Christian Social Alliance e. V. - Citizens for Garmisch-Partenkirchen ”, whose chairman is Thomas Schmid.
