Christof Sommer

Christof Sommer (born May 18, 1965 in Nuttlar ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He has been mayor since 1999 , first of Bestwig in the Sauerland , then of Lippstadt am Haarstrang , both in Westphalia .

Life

Christof Sommer was born in Nuttlar, which today belongs to Bestwig. He attended elementary school in Nuttlar and the Benedictine grammar school in Meschede . From 1985 to 1990 he studied law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . He did his military service in Holzminden . He did his legal clerkship from 1991 to 1993 at the Essen Regional Court , after which he was personal assistant to the Oberkreisdirektor of the Steinfurt district Heinrich Hoffschulte for one year . From 1994 to 1999 he was a consultant for the environment, waste management, construction and transport at the Association for Local Political Affairs in North Rhine-Westphalia in Recklinghausen and a lawyer .

Christof Sommer is married and has one son.

Mayor's office

In 1999 he became the first full-time mayor in Bestwig. As the successor to Hans-Georg Meyer ( SPD ), he received 59.7 percent of the valid votes. After six years as mayor in Bestwig, he stood for mayor election in Lippstadt. There had Wolfgang swath (CDU) in October 2005, involving a change in the GVV-municipal insurance , resigned from his position. Christof Sommer won the election with 52.0 percent of the valid votes. On May 25, 2014, he was re-elected with 61.2 percent of the valid votes. Christof Sommer has been the spokesman for the mayor in the Soest district since 2012 .

Christof Sommer is a member of the Presidium of the Association of Cities and Towns in North Rhine-Westphalia .
