Christoph Hilger

Christoph Hilger (born April 16, 1961 in Cologne ) is a German acting teacher . Between 2006 and 2011 he was professor for media-specific drama at the University of Film and Television Potsdam .

Hilger studied from 1986 to 1990 at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart and in 1990 received the diploma as "Speaker and Speech Trainer " with a minor in singing. In addition, he learned from 1983 to 1994 with Lee Strasberg student and trainer Walter Lott Method Acting , a method of acting.

As a speaker teacher he worked from 1990 to 1992 at the Folkwang University in Essen in the musical department , and later from 1995 to 2001 at the Cologne University of Music in the opera singing department . After several tours with various acting ensembles, he founded the musical touring theater “Cocomico Theaterprojekte Köln” in 1996, where he was responsible for the artistic direction and supervision of the ensembles until 2000. He was also seen on stage in the play “The Big Little Tiger Journey”.

In autumn 1994 he started working with the Grundy UFA company in Cologne, where he worked on the production of the soap operas " Unter uns " and " Verbotene Liebe ". For the first year he was the main coach for the series "Unter uns" and developed a special training system. Between 1995 and 2004, in addition to a nine-month work as a coach at “Beloved Sisters”, he was a regular substitute for “Unter Uns”. In addition, from 1995 to 2003, Hilger was also responsible for training media rhetoric for Deutsche Welle's volunteers and, in cooperation with numerous acting agencies in Germany, became a specialist in casting preparations.

In the spring of 2004 he returned to work as a coach at “Unter uns”. In 2005 he joined the "Verbotene Liebe" team. At the same time, a three-semester intermezzo began as a speaker teacher in the acting department of the Folkwang University of Applied Sciences in Essen. From May 2006 to September 2011 Christoph Hilger was a professor in the department of media-specific drama at the University of Film and Television (HFF) in Potsdam - Babelsberg , for 3 semesters he also took on the position of dean of studies in the drama department. Since then he has been working as a freelance professor as a coach in all questions of expression training for actors and presenters. He has been booked as a consultant for various companies in Germany since 2003, especially for breathing, voice, language and presentation questions of all kinds. He also gives lectures on the topics of body language and voice use in a wide variety of contexts and continues to work as a speaker and actor.
