Christoph Krummacher

Christoph Krummacher (born May 27, 1949 in Berlin ) is a German church musician and Protestant theologian.

The son of Bishop Friedrich-Wilhelm Krummenacher studied church music and theology at the School of Church Music of Dresden , Greifswald University and the University of Music in Leipzig and received his doctorate in 1991 for Dr. theol. at the University of Rostock . As a cathedral organist in Brandenburg an der Havel and as a university organist at the University of Rostock, Krummacher was one of the leading organists in the GDR . Numerous international concert tours have taken him across Europe. From 1992 to 2014, Krummacher headed the church music institute of the University of Music and Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig , from 1997 to 2003 he was the rector of the university. In 2004 Krummacher became university organist at the University of Leipzig , and since 2007 he has been President of the Saxon Music Council .

Krummacher made numerous records and CD recordings of organ music . He has been a full member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences since 2002 and has made extensive contributions to musicological and theological fields, as well as to university politics. His strengths lie in scientific research at the interface between music and theology.
