Christoph Semmler (born March 3, 1980 in Wilhelmshaven ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper .
Career
In 1997, Christoph Semmler moved from Holstein Kiel to Borussia Mönchengladbach as an A-youth , where he played until 2000. Then he switched to black and white food for one season . After one season he switched to Rheydter SV , where he played again for a year. Due to the insolvency of RSV at the end of 2002, Semmler had to leave the club and in January 2003 switched to SpVgg Germania Ratingen. He was then committed by the second team of Borussia Mönchengladbach. In 2005, the goalkeeper finally moved to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . In his first season Semmler only played three games and was relegated from the Regionalliga Nord this year . In the coming 2006/07 season he became a regular player and rose again to the Regionalliga Nord. Another year later he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with RWO , where he made his second division debut on August 17, 2008 against TuS Koblenz .
On matchday 14, Semmler tore his posterior cruciate ligament in the away game at SV Wehen Wiesbaden . After a five-month injury, Semmler returned to training in the 2008/09 season. Nevertheless, he remained without further use this season. Semmler injured himself again early in the 2009/10 season. After four months of downtime, it came back and was used again. Semmler played a total of eleven league games in the 2009/10 season. His contract with RW Oberhausen, which expired in summer 2010, was not extended. For the 2010/11 season, Christoph Semmler moved to the Portuguese second division club Belenenses Lisbon , where he played 26 league games.
After Semmler had not extended his contract there, the Wuppertaler SV announced on October 18, 2011 that Semmler was committed. At Wuppertaler SV, after the resignation of President Runge in January 2013, bankruptcy took place in summer 2013, so that Semmler left Wuppertaler SV.
Since July 2013, Christoph Semmler has been the goalkeeping coach in the youth sector (U-15 to U-19) and the U-23 of Borussia Mönchengladbach , switched to the Belgian club KAS Eupen for the 2018/19 season and has been goalkeeping coach at Fortuna Düsseldorf since the beginning of January 2020 .
