Christoph Wamser
Christoph Wamser (* about 1575 in Wolfach , † probably in 1649 in Cologne ) was a German architect of the Baroque .
Christoph Wamser designed churches that corresponded to the type of counter-Reformation churches conceived by the Jesuits . These contain motifs from the Gothic and Romanesque periods , which, like elsewhere north of the Alps, are understood as timelessly valid elements of a church style. This can be seen, for example, in Wamser's main work, the Jesuit Church in Molsheim , the Dompeter (Domus Petri) near Avolsheim , but also in the Church of St. Mary's Assumption in Cologne . Other buildings by Wamser are the Kreuzbergkirche in Bonn and churches in Coesfeld and Paderborn.
The church of St. Michael in Aachen is ascribed to Wamser .

- ↑ For a long time Miltenberg was assumed to be the place of birth. Genealogical investigations clearly indicate Wolfach as Wamser's place of origin.
