Chrysolopus is a genus of weevils (Curculionidae) within the subfamily Cyclominae . The beetles are common in Southeast Asia and Australia .

features

The species of the genus Chrysolopus are characterized by short and strong antennae , an elongated trunk , oval and low set compound eyes , an elongated and convex pronotum and also elongated wings . The colors vary from pitch black to bright green.

Systematics

The genre was established by Ernst Friedrich Germar in 1817 and is still recognized today. The generic name is derived from the ancient Greek words χρύσος and λόπις and means “golden-green scaly”. Germar included the weevil Chrysolopus spectabilis as the only species in this genus , which was previously known under the name Curculio spectabilis . In the following decade, eleven other species were assigned to the genus:
