Stela of the Chwasak

Chwasak (also Xvasak ) was a Parthian satrap in Susa . He is known from a stele dated September 14, 215 AD (on the stele is dated after the Arsacian era: year 462) on which he is depicted together with the Parthian ruler Artabanos IV . The inscription to the two figures is Parthian . The king gives the official the ring of power. After the Elymais and Susa were independent from the Parthian Empire for some time, this stele seems to prove that the city of Susa was reintegrated into the Empire.
