The Circuito de Cartagena is a permanent motorsport racing track in Cartagena in the southeast of Spain .

The racetrack was built in the early 1990s and modernized several times. The circuit is mainly used for national and international motorcycle races.

Route description

Since 2009 the track has had a floodlight system that enables racing even in the dark. In addition to the shower and toilet facilities, the box complex includes 18 individual boxes with an area of ​​66 m² and 12 boxes with 42 m². All 30 boxes have electricity, compressed air and water connections. The paddock has an area of ​​52,000 m². In the adjoining building there is a restaurant as well as conference and training rooms.

Trivia

In 2007 the 5th round of the European motorcycle championship took place on the track.

On Friday, February 13, 2009, Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher fell during a superbike training session. Schumacher had suffered a serious neck injury in the motorcycle accident and had to be transferred to the Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca .
