Cirk Heinrich Stürenburg

Cirk Heinrich Stürenburg (born February 12, 1798 in Aurich ; † January 11, 1858 ibid) was a German lawyer , councilor and consultant .

Life

Stürenburg was born in Aurich in 1798 as the eldest son of a lawyer and notary. He studied law at the University of Göttingen and passed his state examination in 1817 at the higher court in Celle. He was a member of the Corps Bremensia Göttingen and Frisia Göttingen . In 1818 he was admitted as a lawyer in Berum and a year later as a notary in Wittmund . In 1825 Stürenburg took over his father's office in Aurich. In 1831 he was appointed chamber consultant. In 1841 he became a councilor. Eventually he became president of the East Frisian Bar Association. In 1848 he was the conservative spokesman against Franz Wilhelm Miquel . In addition, he worked in the field of agriculture, especially peatland cultivation . He also turned to language and literature and in 1857 was the author of the "East Frisian Dictionary". He cultivated friendships with Robert Schumann and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and was responsible for the publication of Johann Sebastian Bach's vocal works .

Stürenburg was married to Wilhelmine Stürenburg (née Rieken) and had a total of seven daughters and two sons with her. He was a great-grandfather of the writer Hans Fallada .
