City Point Tower 1 (also known by the name 1 Dekalb Avenue ) is a skyscraper under construction in New York City to be built as part of City Point renovation.

description

Efforts have been made since the early 2000s to revitalize, expand and improve the City Point district. City Point (CP) is located in Downtown Brooklyn , the central part of the New York borough of Brooklyn . Downtown and large parts of the district are currently experiencing a real construction boom. This revitalization would redesign almost all of downtown.

The redesign of CP is divided into three phases:

  • Phase I : New, first-class shops (e.g. Armani), improvement of public transport connections, expansion and widening of sidewalks and squares, etc.
  • Phase II : Construction of at least two residential towers (each with 19 or 30 floors) to make downtown more attractive as a residential area.
  • Phase III : Final fine-tuning and construction of CP Tower 1, which should be 220 meters high and 59 floors. This would make this tower one of the tallest buildings in Brooklyn and at the same time the first skyscraper over 200 meters in the district.

The final permits for the construction will be obtained at the end of December 2012. The project was delayed because local residents protested. In her opinion, the influx of luxury shops, and associated wealthy New Yorkers, would displace the Brooklyn residents, who are poorer than Manhattan.

Construction officially began in mid-February and is expected to be completed by 2019 at the latest.
