Claus Larass (born November 1, 1944 in Jüterbog ) is a German journalist and media manager . Among other things, he was editor-in-chief of the Bild newspaper and a member of the Executive Board of Axel Springer AG .

career

Larass' journalistic career began in the years 1966-68, initially with a traineeship at the Fränkischer Anzeiger , then he became an editor at the Kölner Stadtanzeiger and Donaukurier . In 1973 he moved to Axel Springer Verlag, where he became head of the internal politics department at Welt , then head of the politics department of the sister newspaper Welt am Sonntag . After working as a freelance writer since 1980, he was appointed deputy editor-in-chief of Bild am Sonntag in 1986. From 1988–1991 Larass worked at Burda- Verlag as deputy editor-in-chief of Bunten , and from 1991 again as the successor to Wilhelm Pannier for Axel Springer Verlag as editor-in-chief of BZ and BZ am Sonntag .

In 1992, Larass succeeded Hans-Hermann Tiedje as editor-in-chief of Bild-Zeitung and in 1996 was also the publisher of this newspaper as well as Bildwoche , which he had also been editor-in-chief for eight months in 1995. In contrast to his predecessor, who remained a provocative media figure even after he left Bild (the taz called him “Rambo of German tabloid journalism” in 1998), Larass hardly appeared on the outside. In 1998 he finally handed over his function as editor-in-chief to his successor Udo Röbel and moved up to the management board of Axel Springer AG. In June 1999, he took on a sideline role at what was then Hamburger Systematics AG , which went on the Neuer Markt in September 1999 . Since 2000 he has been responsible for news, information and political broadcasts at ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG. Larass left the company at the end of 2003 due to a reorganization of the group initiated by the then main shareholder of ProSiebenSat.1 Medien AG Haim Saban .

Larass has been a member of the supervisory board of the M. DuMont Schauberg publishing house since January 1, 2003 . After his departure from ProSiebenSat.1 Medien AG, he was responsible for the redesign of the tabloid Direkt , which was discontinued at the end of 2006.
