Clement Imlin (* before 1553 in Horrheim ; † November 12, 1585 in Heilbronn ) was a German merchant and from 1575 until his death in 1585 mayor of Heilbronn.

Life

Imlin was the offspring of a Heilbronn merchant family. In 1553 he acquired a building on the market square in Heilbronn, which belonged to the pharmacist Johannes Dürr, his wife's stepfather. In 1561 he became a member of the “inner” or “small council” , ie the 15-member patrician council, which provided the tax lords and mayor from among its members. In 1565 Imlin was registered as tax master, in 1575 he became mayor. During his term of office, the astronomical art clock was built at Heilbronn Town Hall .

In a council minutes from 1580 it is reported that the town hall builder Hans Kurz was allowed to build Imlin's house at Kirchbrunnenstrasse 15 for Imlin . The first three floors were built from solid sandstone, the other three attic floors were designed as Alemannic-Franconian half-timbered gables . Another special feature of the house was the sandstone bay window . According to the chronicle, the house is said to have stood on older Romanesque columns.

The Imlin merchant family was one of the houses in Heilbronn that were most taxed in the 16th and 17th centuries. The family's coat of arms shows a sloping beam with three imms , which give an indication of the beekeeping trade. Imlinstrasse in Heilbronn is named after the Imlin family .
