Connaissance of the temps

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Connaissance des temps is the official astronomical yearbook in France.

Content and frequency of publication

The first part of the yearbook contains the information on the basics necessary for its use and a table part contains the ephemeris of the sun, moon, planets and the most important planetary moons . It is published by the Bureau des Longitudes in Paris.

There is also an accompanying volume with explanations that is not updated annually (see references below).

The French astronomer Jean Picard founded the "Connaissance des temps ou des mouvements célestes" ( knowledge of the times or the movements of the sky ), which appeared as the first national ephemeris in 1679 and which he published until his death in 1682. The work of Jérôme Lalande was published between 1760 and 1776 .
