The Consolidated Media Holdings with headquarters in Sydney was the largest Australian media companies . CMH was active in print and television and was acquired by News Corporation in 2012 .

Consolidated Media Holdings was created in November 2007 by splitting up Publishing and Broadcasting Limited. The gaming division was spun off to Crown Limited , and the media division was renamed Consolidated Media Holdings.

In July 2012, News Corporation made an offer on behalf of Consolidated Media Holdings. Seven Group Holdings also made an offer. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) approved News Corp's offer, but rejected Seven Group Holdings' offer. The acquisition by News Corporation, effective November 2, 2012, was approved by both shareholders and the Supreme Court.

Consolidated Media was a pure holding company without its own operating business. CMH held four investments:

  • PBL Media (25% share), including the Nine Network , 33% in Sky News Australia, Australia's largest magazine publisher ACP Magazines (The Australian Women's Weekly, Woman's Day, Dolly, NW, TV Week, Cleo, Cosmopolitan , Madison, New Woman, Zoo Weekly, Wheels and Ralph), and the Acer Arena in Sydney.
  • Foxtel (25% stake), Australia's largest pay-TV network
  • Premier Media Group (50%), owner and operator of pay TV channels Fox Sports, FoxSportsNews, How To Channel and FUEL TV.
  • Seek (26%), according to the company, the market leader in Australia for online job ads.

Consolidated Media Holdings was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and immediately after the split became part of the S & P / ASX 50 index, which comprises the 50 largest companies listed on the Australian stock exchange.
