Consorzio Suonatori Indipendienti (Italian for "Cooperative of Independent Minstrels") is a left-wing Italian rock band. CSI was founded in 1992 by members of the art punk band CCCP Fedeli alla linea . The name variation is derived from the changed name of the former Soviet Union CCCP; CSI: Confederazione Stati Indipendenti.

The pieces are characterized by a dark, atmospheric mood and often contain folkloric elements. Further influences are blues, punk and the experimental music of the early 80s - the predecessor band CCCP, founded in Berlin in 1982, had developed musically a. a. Oriented towards the Einstürzende Neubauten , and this influence is still clearly visible at CSI. The monotonous singing of the singer Giovanni Lindo Ferretti is characteristic . The texts deal with political and socially critical issues.

The great commercial success of the band's last studio album, Tabula Rasa Elettrificata (No. 1 on the Italian charts in 1997) challenged the band's conception of an "alternative group". This crisis of meaning finally led to the dissolution of CSI in 2000.

The members of CSI have continued their work as PGR (Per Grazia Ricevuta) since 2001 .
