Cornelius Ysselstyn
Cornelius Ysselstyn (born December 9, 1904 in The Hague , † April 3, 1979 in Toronto ) was a Canadian cellist and music teacher of Dutch origin.
Ysselstyn came to Toronto in 1936. He was cellist in the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the CBC Symphony Orchestra for several years . As a chamber musician, he has belonged to the Dembeck String Quartet (with John Dembeck , Stanley Colt and Robert Warburton ), the Parlow String Quartet (with Kathleen Parlow , Samuel Hersenhoren and Andrew Benac and Stanley Solomon ) and the Sumberg Trio (with Harold Sumberg and Alberto Guerrero or Leo Barkin ). He has taught at the Toronto Conservatory of Music , where Donald Whitton and Michael Kilburn were among his students.
