Crème de Menthe ( French menthe = mint , literally "mint cream") is a traditional name for peppermint liqueurs . The addition "Crème de ..." or German "... -Cream" indicates a particularly high sugar content. Crèmes de Menthe are available in both colorless and green colors, with the two variants usually having little or no difference in taste.

Because of its very intense mint taste, Crèmes de Menthe are rarely drunk neat, but can be served as a digestif on crushed ice as a frappé . The peppermint liqueurs are popular as a mix ingredient in cocktails , for example the Grasshopper and the Stinger (brandy, crème de menthe).

In the European Union, the addition "Crème de ..." or German "... -Cream" may only be used as a sales name if the liqueur contains at least 250 g sugar per liter, expressed as invert sugar .
