DJ Muggs (born January 28, 1968 in Queens , New York City ; civil law Lawrence Muggerud ) is an American DJ and producer for the hip-hop group Cypress Hill .

Life

Muggs is of Italian-American origin and grew up in New York City before moving to Los Angeles when he was 12 . His surname Muggerud is Norwegian . At first he was a member of the 7A3 group , but their music label ended the collaboration after the first release. His second group Cypress Hill , where Muggs is responsible for the musical, became one of the most influential hip-hop groups of the 90s . Muggs also appeared as a solo artist and he worked with the English rapper Tricky . He also produced albums for House of Pain and Funkdoobiest and songs for artists such as Ice Cube , KRS-One , Eminem and MC Eiht . DJ Muggs founded the artist collective Soul Assassins in 1992 , which unites musicians from the Cypress Hill environment and graphic artists. Since 2004 Muggs has hosted a Sirius radio show on Shade 45 called "Mash-Up Radio".

In 2001 Mugg became a father.

The The Grand Masters LP is one of two first editions of the 2005 newly founded record label Angeles Records , DJ Muggs and the hip-hop duo Self Scientific . On September 11, 2007, another collaboration album by DJ Muggs was released via Rebel Music Group. This time he had teamed up with Sick Jackets from Psycho Realm .
