Daily Mail and General Trust plc ( DMGT for short ) is one of the largest media companies in the UK . The group holds stakes in numerous daily newspapers, television and radio stations, primarily in Great Britain , but also worldwide. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange. It has been listed in the FTSE 100 index since March 2007 , previously it was in the FTSE 250 and until June 2006 in the FTSE 100, ISIN GB0009458117. Headquarters is in London . In the 2007/2008 financial year, the company employed 17,424 people.

The group of companies traces its history back to 1896, when the Daily Mail first appeared. The DMGT company itself was founded in 1922.
In mid-2006, DGMT sold the Studygroup , a subsidiary of DMG Information , to the Australian private equity group CHAMP.
