The Damerower Werder is a peninsula in the Kölpinsee in the Mecklenburg Lake District . It is located in the Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide nature reserve . The Jabelsche See borders from the north . On the peninsula, between 20 and 34 bison are kept and bred in two separate facilities, an open area with 320 hectares of forest and a show facility .

The Damerower Werder, the Heidenkirchhof peninsula, parts of the surrounding area, the Kölpinsee with its Schwenzin bay and the Jabelschen See are part of the 777-hectare nature reserve Damerower Werder . It was placed under protection in 1966. The area was expanded in 1990 and 1998. The purpose of the protection is to maintain and protect the bison habitat on the peninsula, the crane assembly area on Schwenzin, the wet meadows, the reeds, the sedge and the grassland areas on the Heidenkirchhof peninsula.
