Damià Abella Pérez , Damià for short (born April 15, 1982 in Olot , Spain ) is a former Spanish football player .

Player career

UE Figueres

At his home club he was used in a total of 19 games during the 2003/04 season, in which he scored three goals as a defender. This was enough for the big FC Barcelona to then sign him.

FC Barcelona

Damià played the first league game for FC Barcelona against Athletic Bilbao on October 30, 2004 . But he was never able to prevail with the Catalans , so that he came to nine first division appearances and 21 for Barcelona B after the season .

Racing Santander

After his failure at Barça, Damià was looking for a club where he could play more games and found him in Racing Santander . He was also able to prevail right away with the Cantabrians, but often had to take a seat in the stands due to injuries. Because of a hip injury, a retirement was even up for debate.

Real Betis

In the summer of 2006 Damià signed a five-year contract with Real Betis . The services of the defender cost the Andalusians one million euros. Despite all efforts, Damià's old hip injury broke out again, which had already been bothering him. This also prevented the debut for Betis during the entire 2006/2007 season . After medical tests in the summer of 2007, it was found that he had fully recovered from the injury. On September 30, 2007, when he beat RCD Mallorca , he was back on the field for the first time in 16 months. Then he fought for a regular place with the Andalusians.

Even after relegation to the Segunda División in 2009, he stayed with the club.

CA Osasuna

After Betis narrowly missed their return to the House of Lords in 2010, Damià returned there through a club change by joining CA Osasuna .
