Dana Adam Shapiro

Dana Adam Shapiro is a director , film producer, and writer . At the 2006 Academy Awards , he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Documentary for the documentary Murderball .

Life

From 1997 to 1999 he worked for the fashion and lifestyle magazine Icon . He then worked for The New York Times Magazine and was an executive editor at the music magazine Spin . In 2005 he published his first book, The Every Boy . At the same time he worked as a producer and director for the documentary Murderball , for which he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Documentary in 2006. The film documents the participation of the American national wheelchair rugby team at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens .

The short animated film My Biodegradable Heart followed in 2007 . In 2012 he published his second book, You Can Be Right (or You Can Be Married): Looking for Love in the Age of Divorce .

He currently lives in Venice , California .
